RightSeat / CDU Link licence agreement

RightSeat / CDU Link (the "software") is made by Edward Brightman trading as Glareshield ("we", "us"). You bought it through our shop provider, Paddle, which processed your payment. This agreement is between you and us. By installing or using the software you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't install it, and ask for a refund (see the refund policy).

1. What you may do

  • Install and use the software on up to 2 computers that you own or control, for your own personal flight simulation.
  • Make backup copies for yourself.
  • Use it in videos and streams you make, including monetised ones. A mention or link is appreciated, not required.

2. What you may not do

  • Share, sell, rent, lend or give away the software, its licence key, or any part of it (including its voice clips, learned font data, checklists or procedure content).
  • Remove or change copyright or licence notices.
  • Use it to provide a paid service to others (for example, as part of a commercial training product) without our written permission.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where the law allows this regardless of this agreement (for example, to make it work with other software).

3. Beta versions

A version marked BETA is unfinished. It may have bugs, change between versions, or stop working after a simulator or aircraft update. Buying a beta includes the 1.0 release of the same product at no extra cost.

4. Simulation only

The software is for entertainment and home flight simulation. It is not for real-world flight, training towards a licence, or any safety-related use. Its callouts, checklists and procedures are simplified and may be wrong. Never rely on them outside a simulator.

5. Updates and other software

  • We may release updates that fix problems or adapt to new simulator versions. We aren't obliged to support every future simulator, aircraft version or operating system.
  • The software works alongside products made by others (Microsoft Flight Simulator, aircraft add-ons, MobiFlight, WinWing hardware). We don't make or control them, and changes they make can stop the software working. Third-party components included with the software are listed in NOTICES.txt and remain under their own licences.

6. Your legal rights

Nothing in this agreement affects your statutory rights. In the UK, digital content you pay for must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (Consumer Rights Act 2015). If it isn't, you're entitled to a repair or replacement, or to some or all of your money back.

7. Our liability

  • We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this agreement or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable.
  • If defective software damages a device or other digital content you own, and that is because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or pay you compensation.
  • We are not liable for business losses: the software is for personal use only.
  • Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't legally be limited.

8. Ending this agreement

This licence lasts until you uninstall the software or break this agreement. If you materially break it (for example, by sharing it), we may end your licence and you must delete the software.

9. General

  • If any part of this agreement is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can bring claims in your local courts. If you live in another country, you keep any consumer protections your local law gives you.
